OK, I knew you were all waiting for it, sort of...
Wel, here it is, the page that explains it all...
I'll try to explain all of it, from a game as simple as just flipping some pages in a book, with just the help of 1 die, to games like planetarion where you need quite some software to manage all those galaxy's.

Time of the Haunted Woods,Heroquest & AD&D 1st edition. Lasted for about 1 year. Had also one big adversary, he thought probably that I would get addicted to it. He was right in his fear, I got hooked up & I don't care.
But the games...
n°1 were books like the Haunted Woods, or the Magical Castle, or blabla...-forgot all there names-
They work on the principle
"when going left, go to 66"
"when going right, go to 327"
The good thing was, you could die in battle but cheat anyhow & go on further on the storyline.But I bet you sortof wanna know how battle was fought. As far as I know, it was sortof like this.
1d6 (just a die,standart 6-sided thingie, you know)
sword value, lets say 2
defense value, lets say 4
Hit points, say 9...
you've taken right, so you search for 327 in the pocket book, you finely found the number & you start reading:
The corridor you've taken
is narrow, cold & chilly.
As you get further you
notice that the darkness
surrounding you has something
...ephemeral, like a cloud
that hangs before the moon
Only, here you know it's
impossible for any clouds
OR light to be here. So you
wander a bit further in this un-
familiar scenery, until you
see movement just within the
corner of your eyelids. You turn
quickly...
Before you, you see the entrance
to a crystalline city, but guarde
by two young, winged, fanged &
utterly suspicious
Harpies...
strength 2
defense 2
HP 4
So now it's rolling you're d 6, comparing the values & hope you'll live.

Extra muros, Live, MPGames...Well, 1 advise, don't give in to someone who want's you to come to an evening of vampire Live... It's downright boring...
Multiplayer games on the internet on the other hand are very good, if you know which one's you like & which not...
